Sentara Heart Hospital in Norfolk, VA seeks a Senior Echocardiographer to perform and analyze advanced echocardiographic studies across transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress protocols. Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited echocardiography program (or equivalent education) in accordance with IAC Guidelines (required).
  • Associate Level Degree (required).
  • Must have at least one of the following certifications: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer, Registered Cardiac Sonographer, or Advanced Cardiac Sonographer.

Call Required.Position Location:Norfolk, VA- Heart Hospital connected to Norfolk General HospitalHourly Range: $32.13-$53We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits.OverviewThe Senior Echocardiographer is responsible for performing and analyzing advanced echocardiographic procedures, including transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echocardiography, to assess cardiac function and pathology. They collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team to provide accurate diagnostic information, mentor junior staff, and ensure the highest standards of patient care. The role requires maintaining up-to-date knowledge of echocardiographic techniques, equipment, and industry standards while adhering to safety protocols and ethical guidelines. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential for training staff, managing schedules, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.Performs two-dimensional echocardiograms, Doppler echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiograms, exercise and pharmacological stress echocardiograms to evaluate heart and vessel abnormalities for the evaluation of heart disease and blood flow abnormalities. Completes the technologist report in the structured report application. Provides leadership to support department with respect to staffing schedule, accreditation, staff education or other duties as defined by management. Supports Cardiac Operating Room Echocardiogram needs.Unit has 5 rooms for Echos. Echocardiographer will perform Echo and Stress Echo tests, Transesophageal (TEE) Echocardiogram, and Doppler ultrasound.
