Munich Re Specialty Insurance – North America seeks an experienced E&S Casualty Underwriter in New York City to produce and retain profitable excess and surplus business through broker relationships, underwriter leadership and disciplined risk selection.

You will develop production strategies, monitor portfolio performance, and collaborate with internal partners to deliver superior client solutions. Travel up to 20–30% is expected; the role offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in insurance/reinsurance focused on E&S casualty lines
• Excellent underwriting, marketing and analytical skills
• Advanced insurance certifications (e.g. CPCU) preferred
• Advanced working knowledge of Commercial P&C/E&S products, UW processes, laws and regulations
• Proficiency with pricing models and risk evaluation tools
• Strong relationships with wholesale brokers
• Willingness to travel 20-30%

Responsibilities

• Underwrite, market, quote, bind and retain profitable E&S casualty business within authority
• Develop production strategies to maximize growth and rate goals
• Monitor portfolio progress using underwriting data and industry practices
• Cultivate and maintain professional wholesale broker relationships
• Represent the Munich Re brand at client events and meetings
• Support day-to-day operations and projects with business impact
