Job summary

biBerk, based in Omaha, Nebraska, seeks a Professional Liability Claims Manager with extensive E&O experience to lead a team of claims professionals and drive complex claims to resolution.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in coverage analysis, litigation management, and leadership, with excellent communication and negotiation skills. This role is pivotal for aligning underwriting, actuarial, and legal strategies to mitigate risk and optimize outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Minimum 10 years of commercial insurance claims experience.
• Minimum 5 years of direct experience handling Professional Liability and/or Errors & Omissions (E&O) claims.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex, litigated, and high-severity claims.
• Strong understanding of insurance coverage analysis and policy interpretation.
• Experience managing outside counsel and litigation budgets.
• Proven leadership experience, including supervision, mentoring, or management of claims personnel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
• Effective leadership and personnel development capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Direct the handling of complex and high-exposure professional liability claims, including E&O, miscellaneous professional liability, and related management liability matters.
• Evaluate coverage, liability, damages, and exposure issues in accordance with policy terms and applicable law.
• Establish and maintain accurate claim reserves based on evolving claim facts and exposure analysis.
• Oversee investigation strategies and ensure timely claim resolution.
• Manage litigation involving insured professionals, including monitoring defense counsel performance, litigation strategy, and legal spend.
• Review and approve significant coverage positions, settlement recommendations, and reserve changes within delegated authority.
• Provide guidance regarding complex coverage issues, reservation of rights positions, and coverage determinations.
• Participate in mediations, settlement conferences, and other dispute resolution proceedings as necessary.
