Job summary

Richard Design Services, Inc. in Houston seeks an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Construction Estimator to develop accurate cost projections for industrial projects including oil, gas, petrochemical, power, and manufacturing facilities.

You will collaborate with engineering, project management, procurement, and construction teams to ensure estimates reflect scope, risk, and execution strategy, and you will prepare labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of experience in electrical and instrumentation construction or estimating.
• Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems and instrumentation installation.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, construction drawings and specifications.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and client meetings.
• Experience with estimating software and spreadsheets.
• Knowledge of labor productivity factors and construction methods.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Self-starter with a motivated attitude able to handle dynamic workloads.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine scope.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical and instrumentation construction.
• Develop labor hour estimates using historical data and productivity rates.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
• Prepare material takeoffs and pricing for components.
• Identify risks, assumptions, and exclusions in estimates.
• Support bid strategy, proposals, and scope clarifications.
• Coordinate estimate handoff with project managers and engineers.
