Fairwinds Technologies is seeking a Senior DSP Engineer with deep RF communications signal processing expertise. The role involves hands-on implementation on Xilinx UltraScale+, RFSoC, and Versal platforms, plus collaboration across RF, FPGA, and embedded teams.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s or PhD in a related field and a proven track record delivering real-world DSP solutions for RF systems, not just simulations. Remote work within Florida and DMV, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related field.
• 15+ years of relevant DSP engineering experience with RF communications signal processing.
• Proven practical experience processing RF communications signals beyond academia.
• Strong fundamentals in communications and statistical signal processing.
• Experience implementing DSP on embedded/real-time systems and hardware-accelerated platforms.
• Ability to model/simulate DSP algorithms in MATLAB, Python, or equivalent.
• Demonstrated ability to create innovative DSP approaches when standard methods fail.
• Proficiency in Python, C/C++, HDL, or MATLAB with good software practices.
• Experience with cross-functional teams to deliver complete system solutions.
• U.S. Citizenship and an active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance (or ability to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize DSP algorithms for RF communications signals.
• Lead algorithm development from concept to prototype to implementation.
• Implement DSP solutions on Xilinx RFSoC, UltraScale+, and Versal with hardware acceleration.
• Collaborate with FPGA engineers to translate algorithms into hardware architectures.
• Work with embedded software engineers to integrate real-time DSP pipelines.
• Develop and execute test/verification strategies using lab instrumentation and RF data.
• Develop simulation environments (MATLAB/Simulink, Python) and relate to hardware behavior.
• Provide technical leadership: architecture definition, design reviews, mentoring.
• Produce documentation: DSP design descriptions, specs, performance reports.
• Support integration, debug, and field testing across DSP/RF/FPGA/embedded domains.
