Job summary

MACOM is seeking a highly skilled Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Engineer to develop MLSD algorithms for PAM4 receivers used in high-speed interconnects. The role emphasizes MATLAB/Python development to optimize analog circuits and improve BER in 200G/400G systems.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Physics.
10+ years’ experience in an engineering-related field preferred.
Solid foundation in digital communications, filter design, convolution, and linear algebra.
Strong proficiency in Python and/or MATLAB.
Strong proficiency in Viterbi decoder implementation, FFE adaptation, channel estimation, and PAM4 signaling.
Able to work in a teamwork environment with effective English communication.

Responsibilities

Understand DSP approaches for FFE, DFE and MLSD equalization used in industry.
Predict BER of measured or simulated data using FFE, DFE and MLSD.
Identify figures of merit for analog design to speed circuit development.
Create and simulate algorithms to improve BER using filtering and MLSD techniques with MATLAB or Python.
Troubleshoot distortion, interference, or bandwidth issues to improve system performance.
Collaborate with analog, hardware, software and systems teams for optimal performance.
