Applied Intuition, Inc. in Sunnyvale, CA, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineering Manager, Drone to lead the mechanical design of our drone platforms, from airframe through full aircraft integration.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 12+ years hardware design, preferably for drones/UAS/aircraft.
• 7+ years leading mechanical engineering teams.
• Hands-on experience with flight vehicles or airframes and related structures.
• Strong grasp of weight, aerodynamics, loads, stability and propulsion integration.
• Experience with lightweight materials like composites and aerospace metals.
• Design for manufacturing across CNC, composites, sheet metal, additve.
• Proficient in CAD; SolidWorks preferred.
• Proven ability to hire, mentor, and retain engineers.

Responsabilités

• Lead the mechanical design team for airframes, wings/fuselages, landing gear, and structural components of drone platforms.
• Set direction on weight vs strength, aerodynamics, flight time and payload tradeoffs.
• Oversee integration of propulsion, batteries, avionics, and payloads into airframes.
• Guide structural, thermal and vibration analysis; use flight data to improve designs.
• Foster rapid prototyping and hands-on hardware iteration with flight testing support.
• Lead root cause investigations and turn findings into design improvements.
• Own design, analysis and validation quality at component and aircraft levels.
• Champion manufacturability, repairability, and field serviceability.
• Hire and grow engineers; manage performance and career development.
• Collaborate with autonomy, avionics, electrical, software, and flight test leaders.
