Applied Intuition, Inc. in Silicon Valley is hiring a Mechanical Engineer for our drone program. You will design airframes, structures, and mechanical systems across the full product lifecycle from concept to flight test and production.

You will own drone platform mechanical design, balance weight and aerodynamics, integrate propulsion and avionics, prototype hardware, and support flight testing and field operations with cross-functional teams.

Competenze

• BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience designing hardware and shipping products for drones/aircraft.
• Hands-on experience designing flight vehicles or flight-critical structures.
• Strong understanding of weight, structures, aerodynamic loads, stability and propulsion integration.
• Experience with lightweight structures including composites and aerospace metals.
• Proficiency in design for manufacturing across CNC, composites, sheet metal and additive manufacturing.
• Proficiency in CAD, SolidWorks preferred, for 3D design and modification.
• Hands-on prototyping and fabrication skills and comfort with real aircraft.

• Own the mechanical design of drone platforms, including airframe, fuselage, wings and landing gear.
• Trade off weight, strength, aerodynamics, flight time and payload capacity.
• Integrate propulsion, batteries, avionics, and payloads into the airframe.
• Perform structural, thermal, and vibration analysis and validate with flight/test data.
• Prototype quickly: build, assemble, iterate on hardware and support flight testing.
• Analyze failures, isolate root causes, and drive design improvements.
• Own design/analysis/validation at component to full aircraft level.
• Design for manufacturability, repairability, and field serviceability.
• Collaborate with autonomy, avionics, electrical, software and flight test teams.
