Job summary

Continental Resources, Inc. is seeking a Senior Drilling Engineer to lead the design and execution of safe, cost-conscious drilling programs.

You will work with the drilling manager, team leads, superintendents and well-site supervisors to deliver repeatable results and strong technical judgment. You will oversee well design and procedures, cost estimates, and vendor evaluations while driving continuous improvement and cross-discipline collaboration on horizontal wells across the asset team.

Qualifications

• Drilling industry training such as IADC Wellsharp, Murchison, Prentice/Northstar or Extended Reach drilling.
• Experience and understanding of casing design principles.
• Experience with software for modeling casing design, directional well plans, hydraulics, torque & drag; Landmark preferred.
• Knowledge of drilling horizontal wells.
• Drives results with urgency and high energy.
• Shows action orientation to tackle challenges.
• Optimizes work processes with focus on continuous improvement.
• Adapts approach to changing situations.
• Experience writing detailed operational procedures.
• Strong risk and well cost management knowledge.
• Good contractor management skills.

• Makes technical design decisions on safe execution of drilling plan with cost efficiency as a driver.
• Generates well designs and procedures including time and cost estimates.
• Collaborates with drilling team for daily planning and safe execution.
• Analyzes and improves drilling and cost performance.
• Evaluates vendor performance and new technology application.
• Works across asset team disciplines.
• Open to seeking better methods and techniques.
• Manages variable workload with rig activity changes.
• Demonstrates excellent communication, leadership and supervision.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
