Job Description:

Parsons is hiring an experienced Senior Civil Drainage Engineer to support infrastructure projects that transform communities. Your engineering expertise, combined with Parsons' extensive experience, will advance your career with opportunities for growth based on performance. We seek a versatile, enthusiastic Senior Drainage Engineer who thrives in a flexible, team-oriented environment and possesses excellent communication, analytical, and management skills. In this role, you will work on diverse transportation projects, including drainage and hydraulic design, mentoring less experienced staff, and assisting in engineering management tasks. You will utilize advanced engineering techniques and software applications such as CAE and CAD.

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct hydraulic and hydrologic studies and designs for transportation projects involving roadways, railroads, and bridges using software like PondPack, FlowMaster, CulvertMaster, HEC-RAS, and others.
2. Lead roadway drainage design, including pipes, appurtenances, and detention facilities.
3. Design drainage systems for ditches, culverts, and bridges over streams and major rivers.
4. Prepare and oversee technical reports, documentation, and deliverables for active projects.
5. Perform engineering computations, material quantity estimates, surveys, and designs.
6. Develop specifications and materials for procurement and construction.
7. Coordinate drainage design with other engineering disciplines, subconsultants, and clients.
8. Provide technical guidance to drafters, designers, and junior engineers.
9. May be required to seal and sign engineering documents, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
10. Advise senior management on engineering matters.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration is mandatory.
• Proficiency in hydrology and hydraulics software and CAD tools.
• Knowledge of Illinois Department of Transportation drainage and hydraulic standards is preferred.
• Experience with hydraulic analysis for major rivers and bridges is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills for team coordination and project management.
