Job Description:

Parsons is hiring an experienced Senior Civil Drainage Engineer to support infrastructure projects that impact our communities. Your engineering expertise, combined with Parsons' extensive experience, will advance your career with opportunities for growth based on performance. We seek a versatile, enthusiastic Senior Drainage Engineer who thrives in a flexible, team-oriented environment and possesses excellent communication, analytical, and management skills. In this role, you will work on diverse transportation projects, focusing on drainage and hydraulic design, mentoring less experienced staff, and assisting in engineering management tasks. You will utilize advanced engineering techniques and analyses, including CAE/CAD applications.

Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct hydraulic and hydrologic studies and designs for transportation projects involving roadways, railroads, and bridges, using software such as PondPack, FlowMaster, CulvertMaster, HEC-RAS, HEC-18, SRH-2D, RMA-2, HY-8, Open Roads Designer (ORD), XPSWMM, and PCSWMM.
  2. Lead the preparation of roadway drainage layouts, including pipes, appurtenances, and detention facilities.
  3. Design drainage solutions for ditches, culverts, and bridges over streams and rivers.
  4. Oversee technical report preparation, documentation, and other project deliverables.
  5. Manage engineering computations, material quantity estimates, surveys, and designs.
  6. Prepare specifications and materials for procurement and construction.
  7. Coordinate drainage design with other engineering disciplines, subconsultants, and clients.
  8. Provide technical guidance to junior staff and drafters.
  9. Ensure compliance with codes and regulations, possibly providing the PE seal and signature.
  10. Advise senior management on engineering matters.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with 8+ years of drainage design experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration is required.
  • Proficiency in CAD and hydrology/hydraulics software.
  • Knowledge of Illinois Department of Transportation drainage and hydraulic standards is preferred.
  • Experience with hydraulic analysis of major rivers and bridges is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills for teamwork and coordination.

None required. This role is part of our Critical Infrastructure team, dedicated to designing and delivering vital infrastructure that connects and protects communities worldwide.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary range: $86,700 - $151,700. We offer comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, paid time off, ESOP, 401(k), life insurance, flexible schedules, and holidays.
