Job summary

Horrocks in Taylorsville, UT seeks a Senior Professional Engineer - Drainage to lead hydraulic design for large multi-discipline transportation projects. You will direct hydrology studies, prepare plans and cost estimates, and coordinate with a team of engineers and staff to deliver high-quality work.

The ideal candidate has a PE license and 8–12 years of hydraulics experience, with strong communication skills and DOT/AASHTO knowledge.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited program in civil engineering.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) required.
• 8-12 years of hydraulics design experience including design of roadway drainage and flood control facilities.
• Experience with transportation and flood control agencies is preferred.
• Experience with MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer (ORD).
• Expertise with hydrologic and hydraulic software including ORD Drainage, StormCAD, PondPack, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS.
• Working knowledge of DOT, AASHTO, FHWA highway drainage design criteria.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage concurrent projects and lead technical staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform and direct hydrology and hydraulic design work for DOT projects (bridges, roadways, highways, freeways).
• Prepare studies, reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, technicians, and staff to complete projects.
• Interface with clients including state and local agencies.
• Coordinate meetings with project stakeholders and share resources across offices.
• Assist in proposal preparation and deliver oral presentations.
• Prepare scope, schedule, and budget for new projects.
• Meet project deadlines.
