Position Overview

Are you motivated, energetic, and connected with clients, contractors, and subconsultants in the A/E/C industry? Do you have a passion for Water Resources and Transportation projects? Is work/life balance important to you? If so, we are seeking a talented and ambitious Senior Drainage Engineer, Drainage Lead in our Chicago office. You will provide engineering expertise on infrastructure projects including transportation, stormwater, and civil site design.

Responsibilities

1. Serve as the drainage and stormwater technical lead on major transportation and infrastructure projects, overseeing design and coordination.
2. Provide technical guidance and oversight for drainage and stormwater design, including calculations, models, plans, and specifications.
3. Prepare Phase II engineering plans and specifications for stormwater management systems.
4. Utilize hydraulics and hydrology modeling software for impact analysis.
5. Design and review grading plans, flow calculations, detention ponds, storm sewer capacities, and other civil design elements.
6. Adhere to company quality assurance and quality control standards.
7. Participate in project scoping, estimating, proposals, interviews, and negotiations.
8. Mentor junior staff members.
9. Represent the company at public meetings, conferences, and industry events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• Illinois PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• At least 12 years of experience in roadway stormwater drainage design.
• Experience with Illinois DOT and Tollway drainage requirements.
• Proven ability to produce comprehensive drainage plans and documentation.
• Experience with drainage modeling software such as Open Roads Designer, StormCAD, PondPack, HY-8, HEC-RAS, XPSWMM.
• Knowledge of Bentley Systems roadway design software.
• Self-motivated with leadership skills to work independently and manage teams.

Additional Qualifications

• Experience with alternative delivery projects.

Compensation

Base salary ranges from $108,500 to $144,400, depending on qualifications and experience.

Work Flexibility

Hybrid schedule with two days in the office, two days remote, and a flexible Friday, including options for a 9/80 work schedule.
