Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 5–10 years of experience in transportation drainage or water resources.
  • Experience with roadway drainage design and analysis.
  • Knowledge of open and closed drainage systems.
  • Experience with stormwater management design.
  • Proficiency in discipline-specific design software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.

  • Develop drainage solutions and infrastructure improvements for roadway projects.

About the Opportunity

A nationally recognized, multi-disciplinary engineering firm is seeking a Transportation Drainage Engineer to join its growing Fort Lauderdale office.

This is a growth-driven position created to expand the firm's local transportation drainage and water resources capabilities across South Florida. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to perform hands-on drainage design while working alongside experienced roadway, traffic, CEI, and water resources professionals.

The team is looking to bring more transportation drainage work directly into the Fort Lauderdale office, creating an opportunity for an engineer to play an important role in the continued growth of the local practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and analysis of open and closed drainage systems for transportation projects
  • Design and analysis of stormwater management facilities
  • Develop drainage solutions and infrastructure improvements for roadway projects
  • Support roadway widening, resurfacing, and rehabilitation (3R) projects
  • Provide drainage design for intersection improvements and Complete Streets projects
  • Support FDOT and municipal transportation projects
  • Prepare technical calculations, plans, and design documentation
  • Coordinate drainage design with roadway, traffic, CEI, and other engineering disciplines
  • Work closely with project managers, senior engineers, and water resources specialists
  • Assist with drainage retrofits and improvements for existing transportation infrastructure
Project Experience

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to support a diverse portfolio of FDOT and municipal transportation projects, including:

  • Roadway widening
  • Resurfacing and rehabilitation (3R)
  • Intersection improvements
  • Complete Streets initiatives
  • Stormwater management
  • Drainage system improvements and retrofits
Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program
  • 5–10 years of experience in the specialized discipline
  • Experience in transportation drainage and/or water resources engineering
  • Experience with roadway drainage design and analysis
  • Knowledge of open and closed drainage systems
  • Experience with stormwater management design
  • Proficiency in discipline-specific design software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with FDOT and/or municipal transportation projects
  • EIT/FE or PE certification
  • Experience coordinating drainage design with roadway, traffic, CEI, and water resources teams
