Job summary

Whirlwind Steel Buildings Inc. seeks a Senior Drafting Lead to guide complex drafting projects and advance standards, tools, and processes. This role serves as a subject matter expert, collaborating across functions to improve quality and efficiency.

You will lead drafting for MBMA Class 9/10 structures, resolve advanced detailing issues, implement BIM and automation, and mentor drafters while ensuring deliverables meet company standards.

Qualifications

• 9-11 years of drafting experience in metal building or structural steel environments.
• Mastery of CAD, MBS, Tekla.
• Strong project management skills.
• Demonstrated leadership within technical teams.
• Proven ability to resolve complex detailing issues.
• Ability to implement tools or processes that improve efficiency.
• Strong attention to detail and critical thinking.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead drafting for complex projects, including MBMA Class 9 and 10 structures.
• Resolve advanced detailing challenges, including hybrid structures.
• Lead department-wide improvements in drafting quality and efficiency.
• Introduce and implement new drafting tools, including BIM integration and automation.
• Represent the drafting department in cross-functional projects and initiatives.
• Lead drafting efforts for cross-departmental initiatives.
• Provide technical guidance and support to other drafters as needed.
• Ensure drafting deliverables meet company standards and project requirements.
