Salient Motion, Inc. is seeking a versatile CAD draftsman to produce high-precision drawings for critical aerospace and defense components. You will craft detailed 2D drawings and manage complex assemblies using SolidWorks and a PDM system.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in aerospace/automotive drafting, strong GD&T knowledge, and a team mindset to streamline the drawing process and reduction of fabrication time and cost.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of drafting experience in aerospace or automotive fields.
• Knowledge of ASME Y14 and GD&T.
• Team-oriented, capable of owning the drawing process.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on manufacturability.

Responsabilités

• Create detailed 2D drawings for complex mechanisms and assemblies including gears, bearings, lead screws, braking systems, and encoders.
• Maintain clean CAD architecture with logical assemblies and configurable parts.
• Perform stack-up analysis and fit/class sizing to ensure proper part alignment.
• Design with fabrication in mind to minimize vendor time and costs.

What you'll do:

We are seeking a versatile, CAD and drawing master able to create outstanding drawings to produce key parts for manufacturing and certification. You will be a key step in the processes for building

• CAD Architecture: Keep the CAD structure clean with assemblies that make logical sense and configurations that allow for part variations
• Drawing generator: Create the detailed 2D drawings for complex mechanisms components and assemblies including precision gears, bearings, lead screws, braking systems, and encoders, avionics boxes.
• Fitment and Clearence: Create reasonable part tolerance and perform stack-up analysis. Use fit classes to establish good part alignment. Read manufactures data sheets to size appropriate housings.
• Fabricable Design: Deploy your knowledge of fabrication techniques (tool sizes, machine features) to minimize time with vendors and reduce overall cost.

What you need:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience: 5+ years of experience as a drafter in aerospace or automotive fields.
• CAD Mastery: Advanced design experience in SolidWorks including complex assemblies and configuration management on a PDM system.
• ASME Y14 and GD&T master: Know ASME Y14 like the back of your hand and deploy that knowledge on the drawings.
• Team mindset: Help the team achieve their goals by owning the drawing process and finding ways circumvent the roadblocks.

Nice to have:

• Flight Program: Have created drawings used for a flight certification program (FAA or MIL)
• Gearbox Specialization: Detailed knowledge of how to create drawings for gears, screws, precision parts
