Job summary
Viltis is partnering with a clinical-stage vaccine innovation company to recruit a Staff Engineer for Protein Process Development and Manufacturing in San Carlos, CA. This onsite role focuses on downstream purification, technology transfer, process validation, and GMP manufacturing support for both clinical and commercial programs.
The successful candidate will lead technical decisions, collaborate with CMOs, and guide cross-functional teams across development, transfer, and manufacturing
Qualifications
- PhD/Master/Bachelor with extensive pharmaceutical/biotech experience in downstream, process development, and GMP manufacturing.
- Experience with chromatography, filtration, UF/DF, and scale-up.
- Experience with technology transfer and lifecycle management.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership across downstream purification, technology transfer, and manufacturing support.
- Lead optimization, validation, and lifecycle process improvement.
- Collaborate with CMOs and internal teams to enable scale-up and commercial execution.
- Design and analyze small- and pilot-scale studies for process characterization.
- Mentor junior scientists and engineers; guide cross-functional teams.
- Prepare regulatory documentation and support inspections.
