Job summary

Viltis is seeking an experienced Downstream Process Development / Tech Transfer Consultant to support a biotechnology client in San Carlos, CA. The contract role focuses on downstream process development, scale-up, technology transfer to manufacturing facilities, and collaboration with CMOs/CDMOs.

The ideal candidate will lead downstream execution, drive PPQ campaigns, and provide technical leadership on membrane filtration and tangential flow filtration, ensuring robust transfer and readiness

Qualifications

• 10+ years in biopharmaceutical process development with a downstream focus.
• Strong expertise in downstream process development and scale-up.
• Experience transferring processes to manufacturing facilities or CMOs/CDMOs.
• Hands-on membrane filtration and tangential flow filtration (TFF) experience.
• Experience leading pilot-scale or manufacturing-scale downstream operations.

Responsibilities

• Support downstream process development, optimization, scale-up, and technology transfer.
• Lead downstream technical execution with CMOs/CDMOs.
• Support pilot plant and on-site scale-up activities, troubleshooting, and process evaluation.
• Provide technical leadership for downstream unit operations, including filtration.
• Develop and support documentation for process development and technology transfer.
• Collaborate with PD, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, and other teams to meet objectives.
• Support PPQ campaigns and product launch readiness.
