Job summary

Competitive Range seeks a Cable Technician II to install, maintain, and repair structured cabling across the DoD environment. You will work with RCDD and IT teams to ensure secure, compliant, and high‑availability cabling infrastructure and related voice/data systems.

Requirements include 3+ years in DoD cabling, BICSI rules, and TS/SCI clearance, with hands-on experience using OTDRs, meters, and testers. Arlington, VA site with strict security and DoD standards.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of related telecommunication experience.
• 3+ years in a DoD environment as Cable Technician.
• BICSI rules knowledge required.
• Proficient with network cabling test equipment ( testers, OTDRs, meters).
• Effective communicator with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Strong customer-support and high-visibility environment experience.
• Solid problem analysis and problem-solving abilities.
• Attention to detail and accuracy is essential.
• Active TS/SCI clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair structured cabling systems (copper, fiber, telecom media).
• Analyze and manage telecommunications cabling infrastructure.
• Dress, terminate, and test cables with power tools and ladders.
• Test and repair cabling infrastructure for trouble calls and routine maintenance.
• Install, maintain, and repair voice and data communications systems.
• Identify and remove abandoned cable; keep wiring neat and safe.
• Ensure installations are baselined and DoD STIG compliant before deployment.
• Conduct regular system testing and validation for ongoing compliance.
• Document baseline configuration of network assets related to cabling.
• Accurately represent assets in the Government-provided system.
• Collaborate with RCDD, IT team, and stakeholders on network approach.
