Job summary

Peraton is seeking a skilled Network Engineer / Cable Technician to support the DOE enterprise infrastructure program. The role covers physical installation, termination, and maintenance of structured cabling across DOE facilities, with emphasis on clean, code-compliant installations in a federal setting.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in structured cabling for enterprise or federal environments.
• Proficiency with copper and fiber cabling including termination, splicing and testing.
• Ability to read and interpret floor plans, network diagrams, and cabling schematics.

Responsibilities

• Pull, route, dress and terminate copper and fiber cabling per standards and site requirements.
• Terminate and test Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cables including connectors and panels.
• Perform fiber splicing, polishing and end-face inspection with industry tools.
• Conduct cable testing and certification and document failures.
• Install and label cable trays, conduit and cable management infra.
• Coordinate with facilities and government stakeholders to plan cabling projects.
