Job summary

GDIT is seeking a Lead Distribution Systems Engineer in Alaska to advance enterprise IT operations. You will supervise OSP/ISP, fiber optic, and communication closet engineers, coordinating with government points of contact and base stakeholders to ensure timely, compliant deployments.

You will lead risk assessments, reviews, and planning for DS workstreams, maintaining AF/SF standards and fiber technologies knowledge while directing subcontractors and agency labor onsite at Eielson AFB.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of telecommunications engineering experience.
• 5+ years leading multi‑discipline engineering teams in field or deployment environments.
• Experience delivering large‑scale communications modernization projects for DoW, federal, or large enterprise environment.
• Familiarity with AF/SF installation processes, base coordination, and engineering standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise OSP/ISP, fiber optic, and communication closet engineers and technicians.
• Manage Agency and Subcontractor labor, including daily direction, quality assurance, performance oversight, and conflict resolution.
• Serve as primary engineering liaison to Government POCs and base stakeholders.
• Coordinate base access, security requirements, installation schedules, materials, and personnel deployment.
• Validate engineering deliverables including drawings, design inputs, reports, and risk assessments.
