Job summary

Exelon Corporation seeks a Distribution System Operator to optimize and supervise switching, tagging, and real-time operations of the electric distribution network. You will manage alarms, loadings, and restoration efforts during storms or outages, coordinating across field, construction, and contractor teams.

Qualifications

• Meet job requirements of Distributed System Operator 1 job requirements AND have at last 6 months Distributor System Operator 1 equivalent experience
• Ability to sit and stand for extended periods and differentiate between colors on computer schematics
• Thorough understanding of the Exelon Utilities distribution system, the ability to recognize system configuration and loading issues, ability to formulate contingency plans and thorough knowledge and understanding of proper operating procedures obtained through successful completion of formal OCC training
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated analytical skills and judgment
• Demonstrated ability to respond to emergencies and manage stressful situations
• Ability to work shift work
• Candidate must receive a "Recommended" result on the SOPD test to be eligible for consideration
• Bachelor's Degree in engineering, technology, math, or business (Preferred) - noted as preferred qualification

Responsibilities

• Follow established policies, procedures and guidelines on distribution system operations to maintain system integrity and reliability.
• Gather and analyze system data to determine the feasibility of switching requests and verify safe operation of the electrical system.
• Direct and supervise all electrical switching, placement of safety tags and testing activities.
• Notify and direct appropriate personnel during outages, equipment failure, emergencies and events on the distribution system.
• Maintain system voltages, line and equipment loadings within acceptable limits.
• Keep supervisors informed of abnormal system conditions and outages.
• Maintain current system status information on SCADA displays and maps, and ensure accuracy of project diagrams.
• Maintain operating logs, interruption reports and records of system status and events.
