Job description

Senior Distribution Planning and Analysis Engineer

Leidos Engineering is seeking a Senior Distribution Planning and Analysis Engineer to work REMOTE and join our distribution planning team. This role involves executing distribution planning, DER interconnection impact, arc flash and coordination studies, distribution protection, and self-healing systems, tailored to project and client needs. Studies are conducted for Municipal Utilities, Investor-Owned Utilities, and electric cooperatives. The position requires some client-facing work and business development activities. There is significant growth potential for a qualified candidate.

In this role, you will gain expertise in NESC, interface with local clients, perform electrical power calculations, collaborate with other disciplines, contribute to strategic development, expand your business portfolio, and partner with utility clients nationwide.

The ideal candidate should have solid experience in distribution analysis, including load flow studies, protection systems, and self-healing networks. Familiarity with distribution policies, regulatory issues, and arc flash assessments is a plus.

Work Location: Preferably in the Greater Atlanta, GA area; open to all U.S. candidates.

Background Requirements:

  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or related field, with 4+ years of experience
  • Experience in distribution studies, capable of conducting studies under supervision
  • Proficiency with Milsoft WindMil, DNV GL SynerGi, Cyme Cymdist
  • Experience with Siemens PTI PSS/E, GE PSLF, EMTP, PSCAD, ASPEN OneLiner, or Siemen’s APA is a plus
  • Strong communication skills
  • Team player with collaborative skills
  • Experience with ETAP, EasyPower, and inverter-based resources is highly preferred
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) license preferred
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
