Job summary

Puget Sound Energy in Washington state is seeking a Senior Distribution Electric Engineer to support the planning, design, and operation of a large distribution system. You will work from our Factoria and Kent offices and provide technical guidance across engineering, operations and maintenance teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree or PE license in electrical, mechanical, civil or other appropriate engineering field; a PE may qualify in lieu of a degree.
• Eight or more years of planning, design, specification preparation, technical field work, cost estimating and scheduling.
• Demonstrated organization, documentation, prioritization, and project management skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Interprets and modifies guidelines for application to existing problems or processes.
• Prepares complex designs, standards, studies and analyses.
• Provides detailed design reviews of internal or external technical documents.
• Prepares cost estimates and project evaluations with limited supervision.
• Plans and develops project budgets with documentation.
• Ensures compliance with codes, standards, and design, operation, and maintenance requirements.
• Identifies weaknesses and initiates corrective action.
• Documents and shares work to strengthen engineering skills within the team.
• Communicates solutions to diverse audiences in verbal and written forms.
• Supports emergency response work as needed.
• May lead or coordinate junior engineers, engineering assistants, field technicians, and contractors.
