Rippling, based in San Francisco, seeks a talented Distributed Systems Engineer to design and implement scalable payroll engines across multiple countries. You will build robust platforms using message queues, job flow systems, and bi-temporal data models to ensure accurate payroll processing.

You will work with cross-functional teams, emphasize observability, and strive for four- to five-nines uptime while maintaining high availability and reliability in a fast-growing environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Go or Python.
• Experience with distributed systems and concurrency control.
• Familiarity with message queues and job orchestration tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement distributed systems with a platform mindset.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code.
• Demonstrate expertise in concurrency control and message ordering for payroll data consistency.
• Leverage Temporal/Kafka to orchestrate payroll workflows and payments processing.
• Build efficient data pipelines and optimize queries for performance.
• Apply bi-temporal data modeling to payroll data flows.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and ensure reliable observability and uptime.
