Job summary

Snowflake Inc. in Menlo Park, CA is seeking a Senior Distributed Systems Engineer to help design, build, and operate large-scale, fault-tolerant services that schedule and execute warehouse-backed work.

You will balance performance, reliability, and cost while shaping core infrastructure used by thousands of users. You will collaborate across teams, own critical components from concept to production, and apply strong CS fundamentals, multi-threading and concurrency, and cloud familiarity

Qualifications

• Substantial industry experience designing, building, and supporting large-scale systems in production.
• Experience building large-scale, distributed, fault-tolerant services including compute placement, queueing, and monitoring.
• Strong CS fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Solve real business needs at large scale by applying software engineering and analytical problem solving.
• Design and implement scalable distributed systems for scheduling, queueing, dispatch, and completion of warehouse-backed work.
• Analyze fault tolerance, high availability, performance, and scale challenges, and solve them.
• Build admission control, isolation, and capacity management so shared compute stays fair and predictable.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives and collaborate with engineers, product managers, and TPMs.
• Judge trade-offs among consistency, durability, latency, and cost, and build systems that meet service demands.
• Ensure operational readiness of the services and meet commitments to customers on availability and performance.
