Job summary

Netflix in the United States is seeking a Distributed Systems Engineer to own the technical direction of the Ad Serving Platform. You will partner across teams to ensure SLA/SLO uptime and build a high-throughput, low-latency backend.

You will design modular architectures, profile and tune I/O and network layers, and drive performance benchmarking within CI/CD to prevent latency regressions while enabling scalable ad decisioning.

Qualifications

• Distributed systems experience with high-throughput platforms.
• Low-latency backend engineering with optimized code paths.
• Experience in multi-threaded, concurrent design and lock-free data structures.
• Understanding of I/O-bound and CPU-bound workloads and network protocols.
• Profiling/diagnostic tools to measure performance and tail latencies.
• Ability to translate requirements into extensible platform components.
• Comfort with modern development tooling and CI/CD practices.

Responsibilities

• Technical Direction: drive the overall direction of the ad-serving platform across teams.
• Low-Latency Platform: architect a high-throughput, tail-latency aware system.
• Networking & Performance: profile, tune and benchmark network/system layers in CI/CD.
• Modular Design: build architecture enabling cross-team extensions and runtimes.
• Operational Excellence: ensure resiliency and graceful degradation during spikes.
