Job summary

Granica is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build distributed compute systems for enterprise-scale data and AI workloads in Mountain View, CA. You will work on Spark, Spark SQL, Trino, Presto, Flink, and lakehouse formats to optimize performance and cost across petabyte- and exabyte-scale environments.

You’ll own core infrastructure behind Crunch and drive reliability, scalability, and efficiency while collaborating closely with Product and Engineering teams in a hands-on role.

Qualifications

• Deep experience with distributed compute systems and data processing.
• Production experience with Spark, Trino/Presto, Flink or similar.
• Performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency improvements for large-scale workloads.
• Understanding of distributed execution, scheduling, and resource management.
• Proficiency in Scala/Java/C++ and related systems languages.

Responsibilities

• Build distributed compute systems for large-scale analytical and AI workloads.
• Improve performance and cost efficiency across Spark, Trino, Presto, Flink and related environments.
• Design workload-aware execution, scheduling, and resource management.
• Optimize joins, aggregations, scans, spills, and memory management.
• Develop infrastructure for adaptive workload routing and reliability in large customer environments.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering; contribute to open-source or research when appropriate.
