Job summary

Amazon's Last Mile Simulations and Analytics Engineering team is seeking a Sr. Simulation Scientist to tackle complex, large‑scale DES problems across the Last Mile network.

You'll design, implement, and deliver simulation data science solutions using tools like FlexSim, AnyLogic, and Emulate 3D, partnering with cross‑functional teams. You will translate research into actionable guidance, mentor others, and drive process design decisions through quantitative analysis, optimization, and rigorous

Qualifications

• 5+ years investigating feasibility of applying scientific principles to business problems.
• PhD, or Master's degree with 5+ years of quantitative field research experience.
• Experience with big data technologies such as AWS, Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive.
• Experience communicating qualitative research methods to non-qualitative researchers.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and delivery of the simulation data science solutions for complex operational processes using DES software.
• Lead strategic modeling and simulation research projects to drive process design decisions.
• Be an exemplary practitioner to establish best practices and simplify problems to develop DES faster with high standards.
• Identify and tackle hard process flow simulation problems with significant business impact.
• Deliver artifacts setting the standard in the organization from design to documentation using simulations.
• Balance cross‑organization trade-offs and influence internal/external partners on multiple projects.
• Provide simulation data and measurements that influence business strategy; document outcomes and recommendations.
• Lead reviews of simulation research solutions and foster shared understanding within the team.
• Mentor and educate the larger simulation data science community on trends and best practices.
• Use Python or other OO languages for data analysis, simulation, and modeling algorithms.
• Coordinate simulation efforts between internal teams and outside vendors for optimal network solutions.
