Job summary

The City of Riverside is seeking a Mini-Bus Driver for the Special Transit Division within the Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department. This role involves operating a mini-bus to transport seniors and disabled individuals on request from a manifest and providing safe and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities include assisting passengers, operating a wheelchair lift if available, maintaining records, and ensuring vehicle readiness.

Qualifications

• High School graduation or satisfactory equivalent (GED).
• One year of full-time experience operating a mini-bus or similar transit vehicle.
• Possession of a valid Class A or B California DMV Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement.
• Special Driver Certificate within three months from appointment (VDDP, SPAB, or School Bus Driver Certificate).

Responsibilities

• Operate, drive, and assist in maintaining a mini-bus to transport seniors and disabled individuals per manifest.
• Assist passengers in boarding and alighting; answer questions from participants.
• Operate wheelchair lift if equipped.
• Maintain load factor information for safe operation.
• Keep bus clean and ready for service; report and deliver for maintenance.
• Operate mobile radio and maintain communication with dispatcher and staff.
• Collect fares and assist passengers with fees and discrepancies.
• Complete incident/accident report forms as necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
