Job summary

Unum in Chattanooga is seeking an experienced professional for an advanced technical role responsible for thorough adjudication of complex short-term disability claims with expertise in FMLA and state leave regulations.

You will provide excellent customer service to employees, employers, and health care providers while ensuring timely and accurate decisions. A four-year degree or equivalent experience is preferred, with 3+ years in Leave or Disability roles.

Qualifications

• A four-year degree or equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years in Leave or Disability Benefit Specialist roles.
• Medical background and disability claim management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Timely and accurate adjudication of complex STD claims.
• Processing leaves related to employee health conditions.
• Apply policy knowledge to ensure eligibility and liability decisions.
• Coordinate communications per FMLA/state regulations and client procedures.
• Provide coaching and mentorship to less experienced Benefit Center professionals.
• Support daily tasks including handling inquiries and attending calls when needed.
