Job description

Senior Director, Total Rewards | Specialized

Plano, TX or Palm Beach Gardens, FL (Corporate) • Reports to: SVP, Enterprise Transformation, with dotted-line partnership to the Chief Talent Officer and Chief People Officer

About us:

Specialized – One Force. Multiple Front Lines. One Step Ahead.

Specialized delivers integrated security solutions through a portfolio of brands built on a unified, data-driven platform. Metro One Security focuses on retail security, while M1 Global delivers scalable solutions for non-retail enterprise environments across industries, and Aurix is our proprietary technology platform, powering prevention, detection, and operational visibility while collecting and analyzing data to support future advancements. Together, these brands combine specialized expertise with shared technology and intelligence to drive stronger performance and outcomes for our clients.

Summary:

Specialized is building a modern Total Rewards function to support our full 9,000-person, multi-brand workforce — corporate and front-line alike — as the company scales toward its next stage of growth. We are seeking a Senior Director, Total Rewards to own this build: establishing the company's job architecture, designing and maintaining compensation bands and bonus/incentive structures, running the annual performance and merit cycle, and administering — and expanding — our benefits programs, across every employee population.

This is a hands-on, build-and-run role. You will design the frameworks, benchmark them against the market, operationalize them in Workday HCM, and partner closely with the SVP, Enterprise Transformation, and, on a dotted-line basis, with the Chief Talent Officer and Chief People Officer — many of these programs are still in the build stage, so close cross-functional partnership is essential — to bring a consistent, defensible Total Rewards philosophy to every level and every population across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, document, and govern Specialized's job architecture — job families, career ladders, and a consistent leveling framework across all levels — ensuring every role, corporate and front-line, is graded with clear, defensible criteria.
  • Own the design, market benchmarking, and ongoing maintenance of base pay compensation bands across the full spectrum of the organization — broad-based/all-employee programs, sales compensation, and executive compensation — partnering with executive leadership on market-positioning philosophy (lead/match/lag by role) and using third-party survey data (e.g., Korn Ferry) to validate and refresh ranges.
  • Design and administer bonus/short-term incentive (STI) structures across job families and levels, including plan mechanics, payout calculations, and governance, in partnership with Finance.
  • Lead the annual performance review cycle and merit increase process end-to-end — calibration, budget allocation and modeling, manager enablement and tools, and timeline management.
  • Own the benefits function: administer and continuously improve existing plans (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)/retirement, and related programs) for the full employee population, and identify, design, and launch new benefits programs that strengthen Specialized's overall value proposition.
  • Serve as the functional business owner of Workday HCM for Compensation, Advanced Compensation, Benefits, and Performance — partnering with HRIS/IT on configuration, testing, data integrity, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner closely — on a dotted-line basis — with the Chief Talent Officer and Chief People Officer, and with Talent Acquisition, Workforce, and Operations leadership, to ensure Total Rewards programs support workforce planning, retention, and engagement goals across the business, particularly while many of these programs are still in the early build stage.
  • Build and lead a Total Rewards team as the function scales.
  • Prepare and present program designs, benchmarking findings, and recommendations to executive leadership and ownership.
Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in Total Rewards, Compensation & Benefits, or HR Operations, including hands-on job architecture and compensation band design and people leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise designing compensation programs — base pay structures, bonus/STI plans, and market benchmarking — with experience using Korn Ferry, Mercer, WorldatWork, or comparable survey data.
  • Proven background spanning executive compensation (pay philosophy, benchmarking, and incentive design for senior leadership), sales compensation design (quota-based incentive plans, pay mix, and plan governance), and broad-based compensation (job architecture and pay structures for the general employee population) — this role owns all three.
  • Experience administering employee benefits programs — including 401(k)/retirement plan administration — and vendor relationships; experience designing or launching new benefits programs strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on Workday HCM experience required, ideally including the Compensation, Advanced Compensation, and Benefits modules; HRIS configuration and governance experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience leading annual performance management and merit review cycles at scale.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; CCP, CBP, or SHRM/HRCI certification preferred.
  • Experience designing and administering programs across both a corporate/exempt population and a large hourly or front-line workforce, ideally within a multi-brand, multi-location organization, is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, project management, and executive communication skills; comfort presenting to senior leadership and ownership.
  • Must be willing to participate in the Company’s pre-employment screening process and continuously meet any applicable state, county and municipal requirements.
  • Salary Range: $140,000 – $160,000 per year (base), commensurate with experience.
  • Eligible for Specialized's Senior Director-level (L7) annual bonus/short-term incentive program.
  • 401(k), Health, Dental, and Vision coverage offered.
  • Opportunity for growth within Human Resources, Talent Management/Acquisition, or Enterprise Transformation.
