Job summary

Rigel Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is seeking a Senior Director, Program Management to lead cross-functional drug development programs from strategy to execution. You will partner with clinical, regulatory, CMC, nonclinical, commercial and other functions to align plans, build and maintain the integrated timeline, and drive critical decisions.

The role reports to the VP, Program Management. Employees onsite or hybrid are expected to be in South San Francisco on Wednesdays and Thursdays; remote staff

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a scientific, technical, business or related discipline required.
• Typically, 12+ years of biotech or pharma industry experience.
• Experience in cross-functional drug development and Program Management.
• Experience managing complex development programs across multiple functions.
• Strong understanding of the drug development process and relationships among clinical, regulatory, CMC, nonclinical, commercial and operational activities.
• Demonstrated ability to contribute credibly to complex drug development discussions beyond project management mechanics.
• Mentoring or guiding Program Management professionals preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop a strong understanding of the program objectives, development strategy and key considerations.
• Partner with functional leaders to translate strategy into an integrated and executable plan.
• Lead integration of functional plans, assumptions and dependencies across the program.
• Build, own and maintain the integrated program timeline, including milestones, decision points and cross-functional dependencies.
• Work with functional leaders to confirm assumptions, durations and dependencies underlying the timeline.
• Identify gaps, conflicts and trade-offs across functional plans and drive them to resolution.
• Develop integrated scenarios and timelines when alternative paths are considered.
• Monitor progress and assess impact of changes on the broader program.
• Identify program risks early and ensure mitigation or contingency plans are in place.
• Drive clear actions, owners and timelines after discussions and decisions.
• Ensure decisions are reflected in updated plans and follow-through.
