Job summary

Viral Nation is seeking a Director, Project Management to lead and coach a team of Project Managers, ensuring complex programs are delivered on time and on budget. You’ll partner with Client Services, Strategy, and Creative to optimize workflows and resource use in a fast-paced agency environment.

The role combines hands-on delivery with building PM excellence, developing processes, governance, and scalable practices, while mentoring senior staff and ensuring consistent quality across accounts.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of project management experience in an agency, marketing, or integrated services environment.
• Proven leadership of PM and Sr. PM teams.
• Experience leading complex, cross-functional programs with budget oversight.
• Excellent analytical and commercial skills.
• Strong executive communication and influencing ability.
• Experience managing creative production workflows for influencer, social, and paid media.

Responsibilities

• Coach and develop Project Managers and Sr. Project Managers.
• Build PM capability through onboarding, training, shadowing, feedback, and ongoing coaching.
• Conduct regular 1:1s, performance conversations, and development planning; identify growth opportunities.
• Review PM work product and program health; provide hands-on guidance on scopes, timelines, budgets, resourcing, and risk.
• Partner with leadership on PM resourcing, capacity planning, hiring, onboarding, and succession planning.
• Maintain a master program tracker as the single source of truth across accounts; manage milestones and deliverables.
• Ensure consistency in project scope, establish milestones, and set timelines.
• Proactively flag scope drift and compressed timelines; manage risk.
• Build and maintain internal and external work-back schedules.
• Identify gaps, budget pressure, and cleanup opportunities; ensure cross-functional alignment.
• Support the VP of Client Services to monitor budget and hours; surface risk with recommendations.
• Document learnings and optimizations for downstream use; set up project infrastructure.
