Position Overview : We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director to establish and lead our Property and Casualty Private Equity insurance practice. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the insurance needs of private equity firms, a proven track record in business development, and exceptional leadership skills.

Essential Functions and Primary Duties

Strategic Leadership : Create, develop and execute the strategic vision for Private Equity in the P&C Insurance division, aligning with the overall goals of CBIZ. Create a Marketing and Production plan for the West region, working in conjunction with the Regional President and Regional Sales Leader specific to their industry focus.

Business Development : Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the private equity sector, driving growth and expanding the firms client base. This position will have annual new business growth goals and will work to build an active pipeline of key client contacts, generating leads from personal networks, external centers of influence, client referrals, CBIZ associates, and CBIZ marketing sources.

Cross serve : Bring P&C advisory services to existing CBIZ Private Equity clients. Engage with our Private Equity national practice to increase the share of wallet at the client and bring insurance products to our customers.

Industry Engagement : Bring CBIZ to the forefront of the Private Equity industry through thought leadership at national conferences, trade associations, speaking engagements and industry publications.

Technical Expertise : Develop a high-performing team of insurance professionals that have PE knowledge to service and support growth. Serve as an internal trusted expert, following up on leads and building relationships with key producers.

Market Analysis : Stay abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes to provide informed advice and maintain a competitive edge. Communicate with leadership, providing input on market trends, competitor analysis, and other business intelligence. Stay abreast of market trends, industry updates, and technology enhancements.

Insurance Carrier Relationships : Engage with strategic carrier partners to build out Private Equity relationships designed for growth. Provide carrier management and direction to the team for all placed Private Equity clients.

Client Management : Build and maintain strong relationships with private equity clients, understanding their unique insurance needs and providing tailored solutions. As appropriate, partner with client service team to serve existing client needs and retain business as a valued resource.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in private equity.
  • 5 years of property and casualty insurance experience, with a focus on private equity clients.
  • Membership in applicable industry related groups, associations, and accredited organizations.
  • Thorough knowledge of insurance knowledge and strategic client management.
  • Exceptional negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Proven track record of meeting annual target goals and objectives.
  • Proven track record of success in business development and client management.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance products, market trends, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to think strategically and drive results in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications Required

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Over 8 years experience in area of expertise with increasing complexity
  • At least 7 years experience managing and leading multiple functions and highly technical staff
  • Must maintain current required licenses and certifications relevant to field of expertise
  • Demonstrate industry experience; product knowledge, proposal process, underwriting, regulatory trends, and presentations skills
  • Proficient use of applicable technology
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
  • Expert knowledge of state and federal legislation and regulations impacting discipline
  • Expertise in managing clients
  • Advanced problem solving and critical thinking skills
