Senior Director, Operations

Location: On site in Milwaukee, WI or Morehead, KY + 50% travel to Mexico. Relocation available.

Scope of leadership role

The Industrial Components Division, a $670M global business within the Industrial Powertrain Solutions Segment of Regal Rexnord, is seeking a Sr Director of Operations for its bearings business (~$450M in global sales). This is a critical role to create and drive a growth-focused operations strategy.

Reporting to the SVP/GM of the Industrial Components Division, this Operations Director will lead operations across 5 bearing plants located in the United States and Mexico, with a strong execution mindset, as well as be a key member of the division leadership team.

This leadership position will drive the discipline of SQDC (safety, quality, delivery, cost-competitiveness), to allow the division to grow top line revenue growth and bottom-line profitability. The leader will develop and implement long and short-term strategic plans to meet Division Targets to Improve (TTIs), drive significant plant Key Performance Indicator (KPI) improvements, partnering closely with the site leadership teams while deploying the Regal Rexnord Business System (RBS) which includes 80/20 methodologies and Continuous Improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence & Effective Problem Solving

  • Lead the bearings operations team to deliver on Annual Operating Plan (AOP), monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Set and achieve short and long-term SQDCG and financial objectives by implementing a strategic vision that is broken into actionable strategies and tactics. Direct activities across all plants, providing leadership to Production, Quality, Purchasing, Human Resources and Finance. Knows what good looks like and has the ability to coach and develop a leadership team.
  • Ensures accountability and enables the predictability of the outcomes of each plant. Determine root cause of delivery, quality or other issues quickly and effectively put counter-measures in place to support.
  • Lead and drive the Regal Rexnord Business System which includes 80/20 and Continuous Improvement for the Division. Skilled and experienced in decomposing a strategic vision into actionable strategies and tactics that can be cascaded to every manufacturing facility. Drive a CI mindset, with clear future factory visions, to significantly improve productivity and efficiency across all plants and drive employee engagement.
  • Establish and sustain strong plant floor visual and daily management, GEMBA culture, problem-solving methodologies and lean flow.
  • Develop controls and critically review results of operation in reference to planned objectives.

P&L Leadership - Business Partner

  • Ability to work as a member of the leadership team to develop and communicate a future vision for the business.
  • Partners with SVP/GM and leadership team on the overall strategy of the business, supports the establishment of an X-matrix, and drives policy deployment initiatives, aligned to operations with urgency and a high say/do.
  • Responsible for synthesizing action plans, timelines and budgets for project and product goals and adjusting these plans accordingly to effectively respond to changing demands of the business.

Talent Management

  • Develop a high-performance team by engaging, coaching and developing team members, and by driving accountability and ownership at all levels. Builds a team where all site leaders are top talent, with a strong say/do and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Serve as an advocate for our top talent, building strong succession plans to enable increased velocity, be a champion of promoting diversity and inclusion in and across the organization.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an Accredited University
  • 10+ years manufacturing operations experience; including plant management with experience from a best-in-class manufacturer
  • 5+ years leadership experience positions within Continuous Improvement and/or Operations
  • Proven successful applications of multiple CI tools: 80/20, Value Stream Mapping, 6S, Flow, Standard Work, Visual Management, & Problem Solving
  • Strong operational and financial acumen, executive presence, and the ability to lead multiple locations
  • Critical thinking skills to properly identify problem area & potential solutions
  • Demonstrates the Regal Rexnord Values; Integrity, Responsibility, Diversity, Engagement & Inclusion, Customer Success, Innovation with Purpose, Continuous Improvement, Performance, Passion to Win, and Sense of Urgency
  • Must be able to travel at least 50% of the time domestically and internationally as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MS Engineering, MBA, etc.)
  • 3+ years in build-to-stock business models to understand & driving stocking & product availability metrics

  • Bi-lingual in English & Spanish highly preferred
