Job Description

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Data and AI Services organization offers a unique opportunity to contribute to building a critical Oracle Cloud Data Service. You will develop short, medium, and long-term plans to meet strategic objectives. The role involves regular interaction across functional areas with senior engineering management or executives to ensure objectives are achieved. Strong communication, attention to detail, multitasking, and leadership skills are essential.

The Senior Director of Engineering in the OCI Data & AI services group will oversee the development, design, global operations, planning, forecasting, and execution of a key Cloud Service. Responsibilities include:

• Setting the technical direction for the Managed Data Platform architecture in collaboration with senior technical staff.
• Developing strategic plans to achieve both technical and business goals in partnership with various Oracle business groups and clients.
• Driving innovation within OCI data services.
• Managing multiple software engineering teams.
• Building high-performing, geographically distributed teams through hiring and coaching.
• Establishing and implementing engineering strategies aligned with standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Director, you will leverage extensive software architecture knowledge to manage tasks related to developing, debugging, or designing software applications, operating systems, and databases. You will build on existing architectures and plan future improvements.

• 15+ years of professional software development experience with an advanced degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in Cloud Operations/Infrastructure Engineering, preferably in a multinational organization.
• 10-15 years of leadership experience in engineering programs.
• Experience managing large teams, including Managers and Senior Managers.
• Strong skills in Data Services such as Big Data, Data Analytics, NoSQL, or OLTP databases.
• Curiosity and problem-solving passion.
• Strong analysis and reporting skills suitable for senior executive communication.
• Ability to organize and display data effectively.
• Capacity to meet quick deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience working across business units and with cross-functional teams.
• Adaptability to rapid changes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
