Job summary

Ragnar Benson Construction seeks a Director of Preconstruction to lead the estimating staff and coordinate resources for multiple pursuits. The role will bid manage, maintain cost databases, and oversee estimating software implementations. Office location in Rockford, IL with nationwide project focus.

Responsibilities include ensuring timely submittals, cross-discipline collaboration, and development of the estimating department while providing KPI-driven reporting to leadership.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of estimating construction projects.
• Proven management experience with mentoring others.
• Understanding of contractual requirements, design drawings and project specs.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct, plan, organize, and coordinate estimating activities.
• Attend project meetings as needed to communicate requirements.
• Set timelines and goals for submitting estimates.
• Ensure collaboration across disciplines on estimates.
• Review and approve bids, specs, drawings and contracts.
• Inform staff of requirements and owner directives and develop plans to meet goals.
• Manage and develop the estimating department.
• Review data submitted by staff for proposals and negotiations.
• Provide monthly KPI reports on estimates and values.
• Prepare post-bid budgets and handoff codes to cost control.
