Job summary

NC State University in Raleigh, NC is seeking an Executive Director of Gift Planning to provide strategic direction and oversee a campus-wide gift planning program within University Development. You will collaborate across colleges and units to integrate gift planning into fundraising strategy and steward complex, deferred gifts.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years in advancement, with knowledge of estate planning, tax regulations, and proven success in securing major gifts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; 8+ years in advancement or related field.
• Strong knowledge of estate planning, gift planning laws and tax considerations.
• Proven success securing planned gift commitments.
• Ability to lead and develop teams across a large organization.
• Willingness to travel and work evenings/weekends.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop a broad strategic plan for an integrated, proactive gift planning program.
• Lead and manage a proactive gift planning program across colleges and units.
• Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward gift planning prospects.
• Oversee full lifecycle of gifts including estates and coordination with legal/financial stakeholders.
• Provide training and guidance to advancement staff on gift planning concepts.
• Prepare and present regular reports to Advancement leadership.
• Represent Gift Planning and Advancement in internal and external settings.
