Senior Director of Development

Full-Time Staff Charlotte, NC, US

Salary Range: $115,000.00 To $120,000.00 Annually

This grant-funded position is fully in-person (not remote or hybrid)

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

Under supervision of the Executive Director for Development and Planned Gifts, the Senior Director of Development performs a variety of duties associated with building the annual fund and identifying planned and major gifts for the University, its academic programs, and institutional projects. The Senior Director of Development is responsible for building a portfolio to support the ongoing needs of the University. In addition to managing the annual fund, the Director will maintain a portfolio of corporate and foundation prospects. This position reports to the Executive Director for Development and Planned Giving for Institutional Advancement and External Affairs.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Under the supervision of the Executive Director for Development and Planned Giving direct, develop, and implement annual giving and reunion gift programs and campaigns to help the University achieve its fundraising goals, including spring and fall appeal, reunion solicitations, and annual giving days. Collaborate with alumni relations to ensure reunion class gifts and goals are established and managed. Ensure strategies for reengaging lybunts and sybunts are executed. Execute strategies for acquisition of new alumni donors and alumni participation. Manage a portfolio. Fundraising goal for the Sr. Director of Development will be determined annually by the Executive Director for Development and Planned Giving.

Manage and execute routine annual fund solicitations. Ensure accurate tracking and rating of prospects within CRM. Ensure pledges are properly tracked and execute pledge reminder process.

Assist with other activities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs additional duties as required to meet organizational needs and as assigned by the leadership of Institutional Advancement and External Affairs to include but not limited to the following:

  • Contribute to development of overall fundraising strategy
  • Represent the University on external committees, work teams, civic partnerships as assigned
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Requires a Bachelor's degree in business or other relevant field and at least three to five years of significant experience in fundraising or a related field. Experience with computerized databases and word processing an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
