University of Missouri is seeking a Senior Director, Development to lead major and principal gift fundraising efforts within the Office of Development. You will oversee a team, cultivate and solicit major donors, and align fundraising strategies with university priorities for campaign success.
Responsibilities include strategic planning, donor engagement, and collaboration across schools and divisions to maximize giving and transparency in reporting. Requires strong leadership and analytics.
The Senior Director, Development serves as a senior leader within the Office of Development and is responsible for planning, developing, and executing comprehensive major and principal gift fundraising strategies that advance university priorities and support campaign goals. This position manages a team of development officers that support college and school-based fundraising, provides strategic fundraising leadership, and cultivates relationships with major donors and prospects to secure significant philanthropic support. The role requires exceptional leadership, communication, analytical, and relationship management skills to drive fundraising success and foster collaboration across the institution.
As with all positions, may perform other job-related responsibilities as needed to support departmental and campus-wide needs.
Work is primarily performed in a professional office environment with frequent interaction with donors, university leadership, faculty, staff, alumni, and community stakeholders. Regular travel is required to attend donor visits, university events, and fundraising activities. Occasional evening and weekend work is necessary to support fundraising and stewardship initiatives. The position requires sustained communication, relationship management, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
Provides direct supervision, leadership, coaching, and performance management for approximately four to five development officers. Responsible for hiring, training, goal setting, staff development, evaluation, and ensuring achievement of fundraising objectives and professional standards.
Monday-Friday, 8:00a-5:00p; Occasional evening and weekend hours as needed
A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 10 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Anticipated Hiring Range
$115,000-$125,000
