Cabaletta Bio is seeking a Senior Director, New Product Planning based at our Philadelphia headquarters or in a hybrid setup. Reporting to the Chief Business Officer, you will lead product strategy across development lifecycles, translating deep market understanding into actionable decisions for target product profiles, indications, and differentiation.

The role requires 10+ years in biopharma product strategy and strong cross-functional influence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, business, marketing, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years in product strategy, new product planning, marketing, or commercial insight in biopharmaceuticals.
  • Experience in market research methods and translating findings into product strategy.
  • Strong understanding of drug development lifecycle and impact on clinical, regulatory, and commercial outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead product-focused new product planning across early- and late-stage programs, including Target Product Profiles (TPPs).
  • Design and oversee qualitative and quantitative market research to inform product design and prioritization.
  • Translate customer, payer, and market insights into clear product requirements for development teams.
  • Partner with Clinical Development, Regulatory, and Medical Affairs to align development plans with market needs.
  • Assess competitive landscapes and evolving standards of care to guide positioning and lifecycle planning.
  • Develop product narratives that articulate clinical value and differentiation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support portfolio prioritization through product-level assessments and value framing.
  • Prepare and present product strategy updates to governance forums and senior leadership.
  • Establish best practices, tools, and frameworks for product planning and insight generation.

Job description

This role can be based out of our Philadelphia, PA headquarters or hybrid.

Reporting to the Chief Business Officer, the Senior Director, New Product Planning at Cabaletta Bio will serve as the product-strategy lead across the development lifecycle, generating and translating deep market understanding into actionable product decisions. This role is responsible for defining and maintaining target product profiles, generating market insights, partnering with commercial on customer understanding and bottom-up forecasting pre-launch while ensuring that development, regulatory, and commercial strategies are aligned to deliver differentiated, clinically meaningful therapies that meet unmet patient and provider needs.

Responsibilities Include
  • Lead product-focused new product planning across early- and late-stage programs, including definition and evolution of Target Product Profiles (TPPs).
  • Design and oversee qualitative and quantitative market research to inform product design, indication prioritization, and differentiation strategy.
  • Translate customer, payer, and market insights into clear product requirements and strategic recommendations for development teams.
  • Partner closely with Clinical Development, Regulatory, and Medical Affairs to ensure development plans reflect real-world market needs and constraints.
  • Assess competitive landscapes, evolving standards of care, and emerging data to guide product positioning and lifecycle planning.
  • Develop product narratives that articulate clinical value, unmet need, and differentiation for internal decision-making and external stakeholders.
  • Support portfolio prioritization through product-level assessments, scenario analyses, and value framing.
  • Prepare and present product strategy updates to governance forums and senior leadership.
  • Establish best practices, tools, and frameworks for product planning and insight generation across the portfolio.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, business, marketing, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, PharmD, MS) preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in product strategy, new product planning, marketing, or commercial insight roles within biopharmaceuticals.
  • Demonstrated expertise in market research methodologies, insight generation, and translating findings into product strategy.
  • Strong understanding of the drug development lifecycle and how product decisions influence clinical, regulatory, and commercial outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, decision-oriented recommendations.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
  • Strong team orientation and passion for continuous self-development
  • Experience supporting development-stage or pre-launch assets, including early asset strategy and indication expansion, highly preferred
  • Background in rare disease, autoimmune, cell therapy, or other specialty therapeutic areas, highly preferred
  • Hands-on experience working with external vendors for market research, advisory boards, and primary research, highly preferred
  • Comfort operating in a high-growth, science-driven biotechnology environment, highly preferred
