Job summary

Five Below seeks a Senior Director of Engineering for MP&A and Finance to lead the technology strategy and delivery across planning, allocation, and finance workflows. You will own platform modernization, enterprise integrations, and data movement in a fast-growing retail environment.

You will partner with business leaders and Product Management to align roadmaps, budgets, and investments, while driving reliability, security, and governance across critical systems.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in software engineering or technology delivery, with depth in retail/finance domains.
• 7+ years leading managers or directors responsible for enterprise platforms.
• Experience with MP&A and Finance tech capabilities (planning, allocation, ERP, vendor management, close, etc.).
• Proven ability to convert domain strategy into roadmaps, budgets, and measurable outcomes.
• Deep experience with enterprise integration and data ecosystems (API, event-driven, Databricks, Kafka, etc.).
• Strong reliability, observability, CI/CD, incident management, and release practices.
• Experience in governance, risk, compliance (SOX) and security requirements.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and executive presence.

Responsibilities

• Define multi-year technology strategy and investment priorities for MP&A and Finance.
• Own a strategic portfolio spanning planning, allocation, merchandising, and finance integrations.
• Align engineering roadmaps to business priorities: pricing, debt reduction, modernization, cost optimization.
• Lead end-to-end delivery and operations for mission-critical capabilities with uptime and resilience.
• Drive KPIs across quality, throughput, release health, and SLA performance.
• Direct onshore/offshore and partner teams with disciplined Agile practices.
• Oversee vendor relationships, performance, and value realization.
• Ensure governance, risk, and SOX controls across platforms.
