Job summary

Shionogi Inc. seeks a Senior Director, Corporate Counsel to lead legal strategy for market access, payer contracts, and government programs. You will collaborate with market access, commercial, sales and other teams to align on regulatory, pricing, and compliance under US and global frameworks, ensuring robust risk management and contract execution.

The position requires JD, active U.S. licensure, 10+ years pharma/healthcare law, and experience with government-funded research or defense

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active license and good standing to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Minimum of 10 years of pharmaceutical and/or health care legal experience.
• In-house experience preferred, or a law firm with market access practice.
• Experience interpreting pharmaceutical regulations and advising medical/commercial teams.
• Experience handling investigations and litigations, directly or with outside counsel.
• Strong business judgment balancing legal risk with commercial objectives.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate market access contracts including payer and provider agreements.
• Support litigation and dispute resolution related to market access and reimbursement.
• Identify legal risks in patient services and related contracts and develop mitigation strategies.
• Draft and negotiate manufacturing, supply, distribution, and commercial agreements.
• Provide legal advice on laws governing development, manufacture, and commercialization of pharmaceutical products.
• Develop government contracts strategy with DoD, USAMRIID, BARDA and related consortia.
• Prepare compliance matrices and flow-down terms for government agreements.
• Advise on customer contracting, pricing, and price reporting including FDCA and anti-kickback.
• Support business development with due diligence on regulatory, promotional activities, and term negotiations.
• Identify and allocate legal risk related to government contracts and market access.
• Review existing contracts to ensure timely performance.
