Job summary

Houston Grand Opera is seeking a Director of Legacy Giving to plan and implement all aspects of the legacy giving program. You will secure the future of HGO through planned, deferred, estate and endowment gifts, collaborating with the Philanthropy Team to integrate legacy giving into donor solicitations and annual fund objectives.

Ideal candidates have at least five years of frontline fundraising experience with a focus on legacy giving, excellent relationship-building and data-driven decision

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum five years of frontline fundraising experience; legacy giving preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills for leadership and high-level volunteers.
• Experience in data-driven decision making.
• Proficiency with donor management software (CRM) such as Tessitura, Raiser's Edge, Salesforce.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies for identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of legacy gifts.
• Design annual marketing plan to grow the Laureate Society.
• Manage a lifetime stewardship portfolio of donors with planned or endowment gifts.
• Solicit legacy and Laureate Society prospects for annual fund support; align with priorities.
• Serve as internal resource on gift planning vehicles and ensure policy compliance.
• Collaborate with Philanthropy to identify and solicit prospects for planned and endowment giving.
• Report progress to internal team and external board members; prepare annual reports.
• Maintain donor records in Tessitura; ensure data integrity and forecasting.
• Assist with staffing donor events as assigned.
