Theron Partners Inc. in Omaha, NE seeks a Senior Director - IT Services (Infra/Ops) to run IT services across a diverse portfolio and to support the CEO’s office with fast, discreet execution.
You will build a practical service model, lead a small Omaha team plus a New York cybersecurity lead, and manage vendors to optimize spend while maintaining security and confidentiality.
The job is to make technology work, reliably and quietly, for roughly ten to fifteen organizations with very different sizes, needs, and ways of working, and to support the CEO's office at a level most organizations reserve for their most important client.
This is a service role first. The people who do well here are fed by making everyone else's work easier, and they have the maturity to say yes, I will help, and this is how we have to do it. It is also a leadership role. Our team is capable and well-intentioned, and it needs someone who can build the structure, standards, and accountability that lets them do their best work.
You will not be building an empire. The team will stay about the size it is. The work goes into improving, perfecting, and deepening what’s already in place.
Run IT services across the portfolio. Support the network, infrastructure, endpoints, and web environments for a portfolio of organizations, each with different needs. Each one gets what it needs to do its job well, even if that means some variability.
Support the CEO's office. Fast, discreet, and dependable. When something is asked for, the answer is not that we will design an approach and get back to you. Responsiveness is a norm.
Build the service underneath. A clear service model, measures, documentation, and escalation paths, so problems get fixed once and stay fixed.
Lead and develop the team. Three people in Omaha and a senior cybersecurity lead in New York. Create structure, flow, and accountability. You will have latitude to make changes to the team over time.
Oversee security and confidentiality. Our cybersecurity lead and our vendors handle much of the day-to-day work. You need to be fluent enough to direct it, and to hold a sensible balance between protection and usability. We protect an individual, not only an organization, and we also need people to be able to log in.
Manage vendors and spend. We use vendors instead of growing headcount. Choose them well, hold them to their commitments, and find the answer that does not require new spend whenever possible.
Handle what comes next. Priorities arrive quickly. One week it is a device that will not connect. The next it is technology for a large event in a remote location, while the routine requests keep coming.
The short version: you are the leader who makes everything work and keeps it working. You are not the technology strategist for the portfolio, and you are not building a department.
