Job summary

Vangst is seeking a Senior Director of Human Resources to build and lead people operations, compliance, and HR systems for a large hourly workforce across multiple states. You will set strategy, establish scalable processes, and act as a trusted advisor to leadership on complex employee relations matters.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, wage/hour compliance, and cross-state risk management, including CA requirements and I-9/E-Verify processes.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in Human Resources with at least 3 in a leadership role.
• Current California employment compliance experience in live operations.
• Experience supporting a large, hourly workforce.
• Multi-state HR experience with compliance ownership in multiple states.
• Track record of managing employee relations and investigations end-to-end.

Responsibilities

• Lead internal HR operations, compliance, and infrastructure to scale for growth.
• Oversee investigations, employee relations, and guidance to leadership.
• Develop onboarding/offboarding scalable to high volumes with compliance.
• Create HR reporting and dashboards for turnover, investigations, and compliance risk.
• Partner with legal on policies, postings, and wage/hour requirements across states.
