Job summary

The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington seeks a Senior Director, Governance and Leadership, a senior strategic leadership role within the Jewish Leadership & Learning (JLL) Department. The role strengthens governance infrastructure and builds a diverse, values-driven leadership pipeline across governance, programming, and community-building.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in nonprofit governance or organizational development.
• Proven track record managing complex governance structures and volunteer leadership.
• Experience designing leadership development programs and pipelines.
• Strong relationship-building with senior lay leaders and executives.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Chief of Staff to support Governing Board and Board Chair.
• Lead Governance Committee structure, agenda, and cadence.
• Oversee board evaluation, bylaws revisions, and governance documents.
• Develop governance systems across Board and Community Leadership Council.
• Lead Leadership Strategy Committee/JLL Task Force to advance leadership agenda.
• Oversee Leadership Pipeline development and onboarding for leaders.
