The Senior Director, Global Tax Reporting and Operations will lead global tax operations and reporting processes while driving strategic tax initiatives to optimize efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. This role requires a seasoned tax professional with deep expertise in U.S. and international tax laws, reporting obligations, and financial planning. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader who can build strong relationships across finance, business functions, and external advisors to align tax strategy with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Global Tax Operations
- Review, maintain, and enhance target tax operating model.
- Direct U.S. and foreign finance shared services teams to manage tax compliance, audits, global tax provisions, and reporting.
- Manage tax controls (enhance and redesign as appropriate)
Tax Strategy & Financial Planning
- Partner with Accounting, Treasury, and FP&A teams to enhance collaboration and effectiveness of tax-related operations.
- Redesign and implement new tax forecasting and scenario planning processes.
- Act as the primary point of coordination with U.S. and international finance teams to improve the quality of tax aspects in financial reporting and forecasts.
- Assess tax implications of mergers, acquisitions, and business transactions, providing strategic recommendations to minimize corporate tax exposure.
Tax Reporting & Audit Leadership
- Lead the design, execution, and sustainment of processes for evolving tax reporting obligations (e.g., GLOBE and new public tax disclosures).
- Oversee final reviews and sign-off on:
- Global tax accounting
- Americas income tax returns
- Global tax audits
- Support global tax planning and audit resolution, including research, quantification, and scenario analysis.
Process Optimization & Technology Integration
- Drive efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness in global tax reporting through improved technology, data access, and collaboration.
- Support tax technology strategy, roadmap, and execution, ensuring alignment with enterprise digital strategy.
Leadership & Talent Development
- Build and strengthen relationships with executives, business partners, and non-tax professionals, providing clear, concise, and insightful guidance.
- Lead succession planning and talent development initiatives.
- Attract, retain, and mentor key tax personnel to build a high-performing team.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 12-15+ years of experience in global tax management, including U.S. and international tax laws
- 5+ years of experience in a leadership role developing tax strategy, reporting, compliance, and/or technology integration teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Accounting, Taxation, or a related business field preferred
- CPA preferred
- Strong collaboration skills with finance, legal, and business teams
- Ability to manage complex tax audits, planning, and M&A tax considerations
- Ability to synthesize high volumes of data and/or complex issues to prioritize and simply explain critical issues, insights, risks and opportunities, and the call to action
- Adept at aligning execution
- Ability to manage ambiguity
- Ability to adapt approach and demeanor in real time to meet shifting demands of different situations
- Highly skilled at storytelling, delivering compelling and effective presentations
