Job description

The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) is seeking a Senior Director, Global Policy.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Enhance and execute NEMA’s international strategy and services for members, collaborating internally and externally to foster a favorable international business environment.
  2. Provide thought leadership and manage member relations on international trade issues, standards setting, and compliance with trade regulations.
  3. Advocate for NEMA’s interests in legislative, regulatory, and international forums, including maintaining relationships with government agencies and international partners.
  4. Monitor and analyze federal legislative developments related to trade policy, and prepare updates for members.
  5. Lead the development of policies and advocacy objectives concerning international trade and supply chain issues.
  6. Represent NEMA in global trade discussions, negotiations, and coalitions, demonstrating executive presence and diplomacy.
  7. Manage external consultants and coordinate with international affiliates.

Experience, Attributes & Qualifications

  • Minimum ten years of experience in international trade, policy, or related roles within government, industry, or associations.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and data presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to navigate complex negotiations, build coalitions, and exercise diplomacy.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to implement tactical strategies effectively.
  • Outgoing relationship builder with agility in fast-paced environments.

This position reports to the Managing Director, Government Relations, is based in Arlington, VA, with a hybrid work schedule, and involves international travel.
